15 Minutes Matters
After a hiking injury last September, the above branding photoshoot needed to be postponed for three months, when it did happen I was fresh out of a cast, still had a limp and a very swollen ankle. I was so happy to just be out of the house!
This was me one year ago, being airlifted by a search and rescue helicopter after injuring my ankle hiking, recovering physically as well as mentally while navigating complication after complication over the last year has been overwhelmingly exhausting.
I went from running an ultra marathon last July to being sedentary that September, not being able to run for eight months.
You may be asking yourself how does this have anything to do with organizing…first of all, if you are as overwhelmed in your home at this moment as I was from my hiking accident I want you to forget about organizing. Your first step needs to be decluttering, I have been helping people in their homes for three years as a home organizer and I can confidently say that decluttering first will hands down make the biggest impact in your home.
Your next thought might be, I’m too busy to start decluttering, however I want to remind you that 15 minutes matters.
After not running for eight months I started running four months ago, 15 minutes at a time, 1-2 times a week…that’s all I could do.
So this is your reminder that 15 minutes matters…this week I reached my goal of being able to run 25 kilometres and I can’t begin to tell you how good that felt.
When was the last time your home and your belongings didn’t make you feel overwhelmed? If it’s been a while and this resonates with you, I want you to set a goal of decluttering for 15 minutes at a time, 1-2 times a week.
You deserve a beautiful and functional home that you love, so find a box, set a timer and start with small 15 minute decluttering goals to create momentum and keep decluttering until you reach your personal 25 kilometre goal.
Take small and steady steps towards your goal, I believe in you!
